Process Based Teaching sits as the cornerstone of all three of the Equals Multi-Tiered Curriculums, namely Pre-Formal, Informal and Semi-Formal.
The pedagogical base that underpins Process Based Teaching is not new however, going well back into the 1950’s with the Reggio Emilia approach in Italy, and is based on the principles of respect, responsibility and community, through exploration, discovery and play. Learners learn by doing, with teaching staff being unconcerned with product (getting things right, especially in the short term). Teachers are enablers and facilitators, guiding learners towards self-discovery over time – the more they do, the more they learn!
The webinar looks at this highly practical approach to teaching that has established research based success, and argues that it not only puts every learner at the centre of their own education, but inevitably leads to high levels of self-esteem, self-confidence, self-regulation and independence.
